The music video for “Love Me Like You Hate Me” by Rainford begins with an extended short-film and an artful sex scene between Margaret Qualley and Shia LaBeouf. The film is formatted with a split-screen portraying their relationship at different stages, as what begins as an exciting new romance approaches the brink of expiration and love turns to fear, turns to heartbreak.
“Love Me Like You Hate Me” comes from Rainsford, also known as Rainey Qualley, Margaret’s sister, with cinematography by Natasha Braier, who has a knack for artful and surrealistic stories that look like they’re not 100% taking place in our world. Braier shot Nicolas Winding Refn‘s “The Neon Demon” like an alternate, dreamlike version of our world before it becomes a blood-soaking nightmare. Braier also previously worked with LaBeouf in last year’s film festival darling “Honey Boy” full of color and raw emotion.
Margaret Qualley is no stranger to music videos, having also worked as a choreographer for two music videos for Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat, and as part of Olivia Wilde‘s short film “Wake Up” which was music-heavy, and allowed Qualley to put her background as a dancer to use. As for LaBeouf, who can forget his electric performance in the controversial music video for Sia‘s “Elastic Heart,” and then there’s his brief cameo in the song that bears his name, which is always worth sharing again — Rob Cantor‘s music video for “Shia LaBeouf.”
