Margaret Qualley has made a name for herself in a relative short time, appearing in a number of fantastic and critically-acclaimed films and TV shows like “The Leftovers,” “The Nice Guys,” and recently “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Now, she’ll get to star in a show with her mother, MacDowell, best known for her role in “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” MacDowell has been cast to play the mother of Qualley’s character in “Maid.”

“Maid” is inspired by Stephanie Land‘s bestselling memoir “Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive,” and will be written by Molly Smith Metzler, who will serve as showrunner. Meanwhile, John Wells Productions and Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment produce alongside Warner Bros. Television. The series will tell the story of a single mother Alex (Qualley) who is making ends meet as a maid, and explore the hardships of living in poverty in the United States.

Andie MacDowell’s character is, Paula, as “a self-proclaimed artist, who is the life of every party. She is eccentric, passionate, scrappy, and unabashed about her sexuality, which attracts an endless rotation of boyfriends,” but the description adds that Paula is in a constant struggle with her psychological demons, something she never acknowledges.
