The frightening reality is coming closer and closer. In June, Shia LaBeouf told the BBC that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas had just “cracked the story” of “Indiana Jones 5,” meaning they had figured out how to milk it for a fifth time.
Now, it sounds like a screenplay is moving forward. “They’re script writing right now,” LaBeouf told Showbiz Spy. “I got called into Steven’s office and he pitched a little bit to me and it sounds crazy, it sounds really cool.”
How much do we care? We can barely muster the energy to write this story. “Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull” was obviously an embarrassment and we really don’t want anything more to do with this series.
Shouldn’t Spielberg be spending this time wisely, like recasting a “Lincoln” now that Liam Neeson has bailed on the role? The man truly baffles us sometimes. No accounting for taste, we guess. We hope this report is exaggerated and this film never comes to pass. Just leave it alone, guys (and we’re surprised Harrison Ford still wants anything to do with this series; where is the cynical curmudgeon we loved who famously had little nostalgia for the roles that made him a superstar?).
