Got a Tip?

‘Snow White’ Director Rupert Sanders To Helm “Bonnie & Clyde In Space” Pic ‘The Juliet’

nullWhile Kristen Stewart remains off the radar as the media contemplates her next move, the other man Rupert Sanders continues to rebound. Just last week he was linked as a possible helmer for the Tom Cruise starring "Van Helsing," and now a sci-fi flick has crossed his desk.

Sanders is attached to helm "The Juliet," which as you might guess, is a romance, but one that is set in the near future. It's based on the short story by cult sci-fi writer Alfred Bester, and while a dig to find out any more story details turned up fruitless, according to Automatic Pictures who seem to be (or were) involved in some capacity, it's “Bonnie and Clyde in space.”  Okay then. Henry Bean ("The Believer," "Internal Affairs") wrote the script, and New Regency and Sony execs will high five each other and bring it to the big screen.

It's certainly intriguing, so we'll be curious to see how this develops, and the genre is an itch Sanders has been wanting to scratch. Earlier this summer he revealed that he was working on a sci-fi flick that was essentially "Battle of Algiers" but in outer space. Could this be the same project? We doubt it — there's not much romance in Gillo Pontecorvo's classic — but perhaps this project will help him leap over to that one. "The Juliet" is moving fast, with plans to shoot this spring.
