Got a Tip?

‘Something Borrowed’ Poster Boxes In Its Stars

True to its title, whoever designed the poster for the upcoming romantic comedy “Something Borrowed” has gone with the over used “let’s put a bunch of boxes with stuff in it” motif for the design. Thought it’s not particularly groundbreaking, the film itself likely isn’t either, so its really not much to get worked up about we guess.

Anyway, the film stars John Krasinski, Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin and tells the story about a Manhattan attorney (Goodwin) who becomes involved with her best friend’s (Hudson) fiancé (Colin Egglesfield). A daring take on the romcom genre? Don’t hold your breath. The film is based on a fairly soap-opera/chick-lit sounding novel written by Emily Giffin who specializes in a particular strain of easily digestible pop books for soccer moms. If there is any hope for the film, it’s that it is in the hands of director Luke Greenfield who made “The Girl Next Door” far more entertaining than it deserved to be, and packed it with a surprising amount of heart.

We’ll find out if “Something Borrowed” is something original or well, borrowed, when it opens on May 6th. Full synopsis and poster below.

Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a talented attorney at a top New York law firm, a generous and loyal friend and, unhappily, still single…as her engaged best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson) is constantly reminding her. But after one drink too many at her 30th birthday party, perpetual good girl Rachel unexpectedly ends up in bed with the guy she’s had a crush on since law school, Dex (Colin Egglesfield), who just happens to be Darcy’s fiancé. When Rachel and Darcy’s lifelong friendship collides with true love, it leads to unexpected complications and potentially explosive romantic revelations. Meanwhile, Ethan (John Krasinski), who has been Rachel’s constant confidante and sometimes conscience, has been harboring a secret of his own, and Marcus (Steve Howey), an irrepressible womanizer, can’t keep his mind out of the gutter or his hands off any girl within reach.
