Got a Tip?

Sorry Collectors, eBay Won’t Be Selling Those Discontinued ‘Django Unchained’ Toys

nullNews regarding the “Django Unchained” character dolls just won’t go away, though you can bet The Weinstein Company most definitely wants it to. After they announced earlier this week that they would discontinue the "Django Unchained" figurines after numerous protests, eBay has now announced they have banned the toys from their site as well.

TMZ reports that once the 'Django' toys started appearing on the auction site as collectible items, eBay decided to step in immediately. They sent the sellers an email telling them: “Since the manufacturer of this product has discontinued the item’s sale due to its potentially offensive nature, we are not allowing it to be sold on eBay.” A rep later told TMZ that the toys “were in violation of our Offensive Materials policy.”

So for those looking for a way to sell off their 'Django' dolls for a big profit, you just might be out of luck, and same goes for collectors looking to nab something that is now rare. And while the AV Club makes it painfully clear that eBay's decision is hypocritical at best considering the scores of other offensive race-related ephemera they sell on their site, perhaps one day we'll see the rare, still-in-the-box Django doll show up on an episode of "Pawn Stars." Let's just hope the old man isn't haggling (if he's still alive) because he's a tough nut to crack.

As for The Weinstein Company, surely they’ll be hoping they can put this whole controversial issue to rest as soon as possible.
