The eccentric and awesome frontman for “Tool,” Maynard Keenan, is apparently a winemaker and connoisseur. Who knew?
It appears not only is Keenan a winemaker, but he has a documentary to prove it. “Blood Into Wine,” directed by Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke (“This Heart Is a Drum Machine”), chronicles Keenan’s foray into the fermented grape business as he tries to create wines in the forbidding desert climate of Arizona. It also has Patton Oswalt and Milla Jovovich in it for some reason (OK, she has collaborated with Keenan in the past but still, pretty random).
The film has been quietly making the rounds at various festival and independent screenings since the beginning of the year. Now with the film set to hit DVD on September 7th, Keenan has prepped the official soundtrack to the film. Made up of countrified versions of songs from the album “V Is For Vagina” by his side project Puscifer, the 12-song collection titled “Sound Into Blood Into Wine” will hit stores the same day as the DVD. You can pre-order the soundtrack here and the DVD here.
