'Spider-Man: Far From Home': J. Jonah Jameson Is Back As Sony Releases New Video & Launches The Daily Bugle Website

Say what you will about Sony’s pre-Marvel Studios handling of the “Spider-Man” film franchise and the recent debacle with Disney, where neither side seems to be able to agree on how to move forward, the studio is really killing the marketing for the Blu-ray release of “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

Last week, we covered a fake trailer that Sony created to promote the release of ‘Far From Home.’ The studio took footage from the billion-dollar-grossing film and created an ad for a fake ‘Night Monkey’ film, and in the process, delighting fans all over the world. And for the studio’s next trick, Sony is spoiling part of the big reveal at the end of ‘Far From Home’ and launching a J.K. Simmons’ led website, TheDailyBugle.Net, complete with a brand-new video showcasing the actor, as J. Jonah Jameson, doing what he does best — hating Spider-Man.

So, with the release of this video and website, the big secret is out — Simmons has returned to the “Spider-Man” franchise, but as a new version of his iconic character, J. Jonah Jameson. And this 2019 JJJ is borrowing quite a bit from some of the more controversial political pundits of the times. Taking a look at the website, it’s clear that the branding is totally playing into the idea that this universe’s Daily Bugle is nothing more than an InfoWars-style tabloid obsessed with spreading conspiracy theories and yelling at its readers and viewers.

Obviously, there’s another part to the J. Jonah Jameson reveal from ‘Far From Home’ that isn’t spoiled in the release of the website and the video, so we’ll keep quiet about that. But hopefully, this is just the beginning of random videos from Simmons as the character, where he continues to bash Spidey and be on the wrong side of history.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” is available now on Digital and will be on Blu-Ray/DVD on October 1.
