Got a Tip?

‘Spotlight’ And ‘Carol’ Shine With Big Wins From The National Society Of Film Critics

nullThe National Society Of Film Critics aren’t messing around. While the rest of us clung to the last hours of holiday season freedom on Sunday, they gathered together to name the winners of their annual awards, the big winner is a movie that has been making a quiet impact for the past few months.

Tom McCarthy‘s "Spotlight" won Best Picture and Best Screenplay from the group, but it didn’t take the most prizes. Tied with the film for two awards was "Carol" which took three awards for Best Director and Best Cinematographer, and elsewhere the shine was on "Bridge Of Spies," "Clouds Of Sils Maria," "45 Years," and "Creed," while big auteur efforts like "The Revenant" and "The Hateful Eight" went away empty handed.
