CinemaCon, the convention that brings together a who’s who of the theatre world together to celebrate the movie going experience and build hype for everything coming up raved over “A Star Is Born” earlier this year. In this new take on the tragic love story, Cooper plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally (Gaga). Ally, a budding pop artist who is waiting for her career to take off, is a role truly made for someone like Lady Gaga.. because she lived it. After high school, Lady Gaga enrolled at NYU but only studied at Tisch until she was a sophomore. She felt that once you learn how to think about art, you can teach yourself; so she told her parents she wouldn’t be returning to school because she was going to be a rock-star and that’s just what she did (after some trial and error, of course).
In the movie, Ally has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer… until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
