'Star Wars Galaxy Of Adventures' Trailer: Lucasfilm Unveils Animated Short Films To Hook A Younger Generation Of Fans

As is the case with many different fandoms (and illegal drugs), Disney and Lucasfilm know you have to get people hooked at a young age if you want your franchises to last. So, when they see the demographics of the average “Star Wars” fan get older, the folks behind-the-scenes recognize that there needs to be some brand-new content to get a whole new generation hooked on the galaxy far, far away. And their latest drug…err, idea is “Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures.”

According to an announcement on StarWars.com, Lucasfilm is set to launch two new initiatives to attract a much younger demo. The first piece of news is that there’s a brand-new website, appropriately titled StarWarsKids.com, that is now available to encourage children to explore the universe. In addition to the new website, the studio announced that in a couple days, kids will be able to watch six new animated shorts, titled ‘Galaxy of Adventures,’ on a brand-new Star Wars Kids YouTube channel.

‘Galaxy of Adventures’ is said to combine original dialogue, as well as new music and sound effects, with animation to provide a fun and educational experience for young children. The new series of shorts is designed to help older “Star Wars” fans expose children to the great world of the galaxy far, far away. After the first batch this week, the Star Wars Kids YouTube will feature new shorts in December, with regular updates throughout 2019.

“With ‘Galaxy of Adventures,’ we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content,” James Waugh, Lucasfilm’s vice president for franchise content and strategy.

The “Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures” banner won’t just be placed on these new shorts, either. The announcement reveals that ‘Galaxy of Adventures’ is a “multi-pronged initiative” that will run throughout 2019 to encourage new fans to discover the franchise before the Skywalker Saga comes to an end with “Star Wars: Episode IX” in December 2019.

The first six shorts will debut on November 30. You can watch the teaser below:
