'Station Eleven' Teaser: Mackenzie Davis, Himesh Patel & Gael Garcìa Bernal Star In A Post-Apocalyptic Series About A Flu That Devastates Earth

We are so fucked. We know this because scientists tell us this every day and that the climate crisis is very real, but yet, people like GOP whip Steve Scalise (and that entire party) don’t seem to care about its effects. (“It gets warmer, it gets colder, that’s called Mother Nature,” he said dismissively today) Meanwhile, every creator on earth is basically creating some kind of doomsday scenario series. AppleTV+ already has a climate crisis anthology series coming fromThe Inconvenient Truth” producer and famed writer Scott Z. Burns (with a super-stacked cast to boot). Now HBO is already ahead of the curve with “Station Eleven,” a series that looks like it’s employing pandemic fears to feature into a series that looks like it’s post-Covid, post-climate crisis, and bordering on post-apocalyptic.

Today HBO Max released the teaser and first look images from the upcoming Max Original limited drama series, “Station Eleven,” debuting December 16. : A post-apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, this limited drama series tells the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what’s been lost. “Station Eleven” is based on the international bestseller of the same name by Emily St. John Mandel (a devastating flu, where have we heard that one before??)

The cast is pretty stacked, and the multiple timelines idea —which seemingly looks at the crisis at its inception, in the middle, various points in between and near the dire end— features Mackenzie Davis, Himesh Patel, Daniel Zovatto, David Wilmot, Matilda Lawler, Philippine Velge, Nabhaan Rizwan and Lori Petty, with Gael Garcìa Bernal and Danielle Deadwyler recurring.

Created for television and showrun by Patrick Somerville (he was a writer on the HBO series “The Leftovers” and wrote Netflix‘s “Maniac” series from director Cary Fukunaga) with Paramount Television Studios serving as the studio. The series is executive produced by Somerville, Scott Steindorff, Scott Delman, Dylan Russell, Jessica Rhoades, Hiro Murai, Jeremy Podeswa, and Nate Matteson. Nick Cuse and David Nicksay are co-EPs. Murai, Podeswa, Helen Shaver, Lucy Tcherniak direct. The 10-episode series will debut December 16 on HBO Max. Watch the first teaser trailer for “Station Eleven” below.
