Though streaming giant Netflix has the cable network in its crosshairs, it still has a long way to go before it reaches the heights and grandeur of HBO. The network stands above all else on the small screen when it comes to programming, though many rival networks are starting to catch up. Over the weekend two new trailers arrived for two of the network’s hotly anticipated premieres.
First up is a short teaser for Steven Soderbergh’s last (ever?) directorial effort, the Liberace biopic “Behind the Candelabra.” Unfortunately there’s no actual footage on display, just the falling keys of a piano with the names of the film’s stars, Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, superimposed in a frilly font. On the plus side, we now know where we’ll be on Sunday, May 26th.
Since its debut two years ago, “Game of Thrones” has racked up critical acclaim and countless nominations and awards, and fans are eagerly anticipating the third season’s premiere later this month. To whet their appetites, the network has released an extended trailer for the new season, which promises more intrigue, more dragons, and more Joffrey. It’s a short trailer, not much more than a minute, and unlike the show the trailer is safe for work, so check it out below and catch the third season’s premiere on Sunday, March 31st. And after that you can take a peek at the handful of new character posters that have arrived as well.
