Got a Tip?

Steven Soderbergh’s ‘The Bitter Pill’ With Rooney Mara, Jude Law & Channing Tatum Set For February 8, 2013 Release

When we spoke to Steven Soderbergh back in January, he indicated that he was aiming for a March 2013 release for his upcoming "The Bitter Pill" and it looks like at the very least, he got the first frame date he was looking for.

Deadline reveals that distributors Open Road Films have set the thriller for a February 8, 2013 release in what is a pretty sly bit of Valentine's Day counter-programming. Penned by Scott Z. Burns ("Contagion," "The Informant!") and starring Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum, Vinessa Shaw and Catherine Zeta-Jones, the currently lensing film story centers on Emily Hawkins (Mara), a woman who turns to prescription meds to cope with the anxiety of the upcoming release from prison of her husband (Tatum).

The film will open up against Lasse Hallstrom's Nicholas Sparks thingy "Safe Haven" and will be the ticket purchase of choice for those looking for something decidedly unromantic around that time of year. And this isn't all Soderbergh has on his plate. Once he finishes up "The Bitter Pill," he'll move onto this final film before his hiatus, the long-gestating Liberace biopic "Behind The Candelabra," later this summer.
