'Sugar': Colin Farrell To Star In New Apple TV+ Series From Writer Of 'I Am Legend'

It’s been nearly a decade since screenwriter Mark Protosevich has had a script get produced. But it appears Apple TV+ is ready to get the screenwriter back on track with a brand-new series, “Sugar.”

According to Deadline, screenwriter Mark Protosevich is teaming up with Apple TV+ to bring his new series, “Sugar,” to screens with Colin Farrell attached to star. The plot is being kept under wraps but the series is being described as a modern take on the private detective story. Protosevich is the creator of the series and will executive produce alongside Colin Farrell and Genre FilmsSimon Kinberg and Audrey Chon, as well as Scott Greenberg

Protosevich is probably best known as the screenwriter of films such as “I Am Legend” and “The Cell.” He’s got a story credit for Marvel Studios’ “Thor.” Protosevich’s most recent film is 2013’s “Oldboy” English-language remake.

This isn’t the first series work for Colin Farrell. Back in 2015, he appeared in the series “True Detective.” Most recently, he had a role in the underrated period thriller series, “The North Water.” And just a week or so ago, it was announced that HBO Max is developing a spinoff of the upcoming superhero film, “The Batman,” which will find Colin Farrell returning as The Penguin. 

It’s unclear when “Sugar” might be put in production, but it’s clear Apple TV+ is excited to get to work on yet another high-profile project. And we’re excited to see what else Farrell has up his sleeve.
