'Tag' Trailer: Ed Helms And Jon Hamm Can't Touch Jeremy Renner

With new movie adaptations of “Tomb Raider” and “Rampage” both on the horizon, it seems appropriate that Warner Bros. Pictures is also coming out with a film inspired by that game we used to play whenever our parents told us to quit staring at that damn screen and go play outside for a while.

The big screen feature debut of director Jeff Tomsic (whose TV credits include “Broad City” and “This Is Not Happening”), “Tag” is loosely based on a true story published in the Wall Street Journal about a group of men from Spokane, Washington, who have managed to keep a high school game of tag going for the last three decades.

What started as a schoolyard game for the ten ‘Tag Brothers’ has evolved into a yearly cross-country battle of wits. Reported incidents include one of the men breaking into his former classmate’s house to tag him in the middle of the night and another pursuing his friend all the way to Germany. Here’s the official synopsis for the upcoming comedy:

One month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running for a no-holds-barred game of tag — risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take one another down. This time, the game coincides with the wedding of the only undefeated player. What should be an easy target soon becomes an all-out war as he knows they’re coming to get him.

With a script from Mark Steilen and Rob McKittrick, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Ed Helms (“The Hangover”), Hannibal Buress (“Neighbors”), Jeremy Renner (“The Avengers”), Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”), Rashida Jones (“Parks and Recreation”), Jake Johnson (“New Girl”), Isla Fisher (“Now You See Me”), Annabelle Wallis (“Peaky Blinders”), Brian Dennehy (“First Blood”), and Leslie Bibb (“Iron Man”). “Tag” arrives in cinemas on June 15th.
