Tarot cards, much like the Ouija board, have always been used in horror films as some sort of sinister force. But when you see a tarot reading in person, you start to realize that it’s nothing more than a spiritual session between a couple of people, with very little horror. But yet, Hollywood really wants us to believe that new age spirituality has demonic undertones, as seen in the new horror film, “Tarot.”

The trailer for “Tarot” doesn’t really tell us much, in terms of plot. We see a group of young people (it’s always the young dumb idiots, huh?), who use a really creepy deck of tarot cards for fun and games. But what ends up happening is that they conjure up some sort of evil entities that are seen in the cards. On the surface, it really does seem like pretty typical horror fare.
The film stars Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika, and Jacob Batalon. Avantika is a name a lot of people know now because of her role in the “Mean Girls” remake. And Batalon is obviously from the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise. The film is written and directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg. The horror film marks the feature debut for both filmmakers.

Here’s the synopsis:
When a group of friends recklessly violates the sacred rule of Tarot readings – never use someone else’s deck – they unknowingly unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within the cursed cards. One by one, they come face to face with fate and end up in a race against death to escape the future foretold in their readings.
