'Tenet': Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Caine & More Join Christopher Nolan's Upcoming Film

The slow drip of Christopher Nolan news surrounding his new film has turned into a bit of a trickle, as production begins ramping up. In addition to a round of new casting, we have finally nailed down the title of the film, now known as “Tenet.” Oh yeah, and we kinda, sorta have an idea of the plot.

According to a new report from Variety, actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Clémence Poésy, Dimple Kapadia, and, of course, Michael Caine have all joined the upcoming action film, which is currently in production. And as mentioned, we know the film is titled “Tenet,” and is officially described as “an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage.” Sorry, that’s all the details we’re getting now.

Taylor-Johnson is probably best known for his work in films like “Kick-Ass,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and “Godzilla.” Obviously, he’s no stranger to big-budget action flicks, so he should fit right in with Nolan’s latest.

Branagh is a four-time Oscar-nominated actor and filmmaker. And if you aren’t familiar with his previous work, then you should just go to his IMDB and get watching. You won’t be disappointed. Branagh also joined Nolan on his last film, “Dunkirk.”

Michael Caine is a mainstay among Nolan films, so his announcement was just a matter of formality at this point. Poésy is probably best known for her work in the ‘Harry Potter’ films and was also seen in the great “In Bruges.” Last, but not least, Kapadia is an Indian actress that has starred in dozens of films dating back to the early-’70s.

These actors join the cast led by John David Washington, featuring previously announced folks like Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson.

Unfortunately, there is one Nolan regular that won’t be working on the upcoming film — composer Hans Zimmer. The man who is one of the biggest names in film music and created the signature BWAAHHHH that has launched a million memes is busy with “Dune” and won’t be able to work on “Tenet.” But fear not! Ludwig Göransson, best known as the composer of “Black Panther” (and various songs with Donald Glover’s Childish Gambino) is aboard to bring the music to the spy thriller.

“Tenet” will debut in theaters on July 17, 2020.
