'Tenet': Christopher Nolan Is Reportedly Prepping An IMAX Prologue That Could Be Shown Before 'Star Wars'

Christopher Nolan is a filmmaker that doesn’t like to follow the typical rules of movie marketing. We’ve seen it before with his films, and with his next feature, “Tenet,” it seems as if the director is still content with marching at the beat of his own drum. And that includes yet another exclusive IMAX prologue that will likely be released before the end of the year.

According to Trailer Track, there’s another Nolan IMAX-exclusive prologue coming for “Tenet” and odds are, it’s going to be released alongside the upcoming “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” If you’re a fan of Nolan’s previous films, you’re likely familiar with his penchant for releasing full scenes from his upcoming films at certain IMAX locations months before the film is set to be released. Most recently, the filmmaker did this with “Dunkirk.”

Well, it appears he’s doing it again with “Tenet. Not much is known about “Tenet” other than it’s a spy film that is supposed to be heavy on action and featuring an epic scale. The news stems from an MPA notice that a short titled “Tenet: Prologue” has been given a PG-13 rating. Clearly, Nolan and Warner Bros. have something in mind for the holiday season.

Thankfully, as was the case with previous films that featured an IMAX prologue, those people who don’t have access to a specialty theater will likely be able to watch a new trailer for “Tenet.” A full trailer would certainly be released online, as opposed to the brief teaser that was shown in theaters only over the summer and fall.

The film stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Himesh Patel, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh.

Nolan’s “Tenet” is expected to be released on July 17, 2020.
