Ready for another legacy requel? AKA, a film, much like “Halloween” (2018), that disregards the entire canon of all the sequels that have arrived since the original opened and takes place after the events of the first film, acting as a new “proper” sequel? That’s “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” from a filmmaking team that includes Fede Alvarez (“Evil Dead“) and co-writer of the 1974 classic “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” Kim Henkel. This version takes place nearly 50 years later. After five decades of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town.

The film stars Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Olwen Fouéré, Jacob Latimore, and Alice Krige. Here’s the official synopsis:
Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.
The actual director of the film is David Blue Garcia, a Fede Alvarez protege, an Emmy award-winning director/cinematographer who directed the 2018 horror “Tejano” and has shot dozens of horror films like 2018’s “Blood Fest.” “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is set for release on February 18, 2022 on Netflix.
