'Thanksgiving' Trailer: Eli Roth's Holiday Slasher Stars Patrick Dempsey & Addison Rae

More than 15 years ago, the world was introduced to Eli Roth’sThanksgiving,” in the form of a mock trailer shown as part of the “Grindhouse” double-feature. At the time, it was clearly a satirical look at the trailers from the bygone era of slasher films where low-budget attempts were made to replicate the success of “Halloween.” And what would be more ridiculous than a killer who stalked people on Thanksgiving? Well, apparently Eli Roth loved the idea so much that he has decided to go ahead and make a real film inspired by his fake trailer, and it’s arriving next month.

As seen in the new trailer for “Thanksgiving,” a new slasher is on the loose and the residents of a small town are going to find themselves on the business end of a knife on the holiday when people gleefully chop up a turkey. The short synopsis sums it up pretty well:

After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the infamous holiday.

Look, there’s not much else you can say about this film. Eli Roth makes Eli Roth films. A slasher taking place during Thanksgiving is as ridiculous as they come. All you can really hope is that it’s a fun time for all involved.

Speaking of those involved, the film stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon. As mentioned, the horror film is directed by Roth, who co-wrote the script alongside Jeff Rendell.

“Thanksgiving” is set to arrive in theaters on November 17, just in time for, well, you know. You can watch the trailer below.
