The 70 Most Anticipated TV Shows & Mini-Series Of 2023 - Page 3 of 8

50. “Rabbit Hole” (Paramount+)
Kiefer Sutherland is back! The overdue comeback for the star of “24” could start here with a spy series about an agent who has been framed for murder. Comparisons to Jack Bauer are sure to fly as Sutherland stars alongside Charles Dance, Jason Butler Harner, and Wendy Makkena in a series that was created by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the writers of “Bad Santa” and “Jungle Cruise.” This feels very much in line with the recent heavily male-skewed push of Paramount+ in shows like “Yellowstone,” “Tulsa King,” and “Mayor of Kingstown”. Let Kiefer join the party!
Airdate: Early 2023 – BT

49. “Ted Lasso” Season 3 (AppleTV+)
The comfort food American sports comedy-drama that everyone seemed to love during the pandemic—about a gentle American football coach forced to coach British soccer in the U.K.—everyone seems to adore this show and critics too if the recent Emmys are any indication. Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed, Juno Temple, Sarah Niles, and more are all set to return.
Airdate: Summer 2023 would be the ideal spot for Apple if they are ready. – RP

48. “Echo” (Disney+)
After her introduction in the “Hawkeye” series, Marvel character Echo (Alaqua Cox), gets her own spinoff where the deaf Indigenous character returns to her Oklahoma hometown and tries to confront her past as a criminal and underling of the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene, Zahn McClarnon, and Charlie Cox as Daredevil appear.
Airdate: Marvel announced a summer 2023 release date, but word on the street it is being delayed after a creative rethink. – RP

47. “Hello Tomorrow!” (Apple TV+)
This has to be one of the most unusual loglines of 2023: “A group of traveling salespeople try to sell timeshares on the moon.” Sure. Why not? The premise is oddly intriguing enough but the fact that it’s led by Emmy winner Billy Crudup and comedy legend Hank Azaria just makes it that much more enticing. They’re joined by Alison Pill, Haneefah Wood, Jacki Weaver, and more in this half-hour comedy series that’s actually dropping soon. It certainly won’t be like anything else on TV.
Airdate: February 17, 2023 – BT

46. “The Lazurus Project” (TNT)
What is taking this import so long? After getting really strong reviews in June when it aired on Sky Max in the U.K., it’s finally coming to TNT sometime next year, and it’s already been picked up for a second season. Created by Joe Barton (“Giri/Haji”), it stars the excellent Paapa Essiedu (“I May Destroy You”) as a software developer who might be stuck in an apocalyptic loop. He keeps experiencing end-of-world events, only to be bounced back a few days before yet again. He’s recruited by a nefarious organization to do something about the end of days in a show that was praised for its creative, smart plotting.

45. “Great Expectations” (FX)
We never get tired of Miss Havisham. The Charles Dickens novel “Great Expectations” has been adapted for stage and screen so many times that it’s hard to believe there’s any life in it yet to be discovered. However, the team in front of and behind the camera on this one really couldn’t be more promising. First, there’s writer Steven Knight, who has certainly established himself as one of the more interesting period TV writers on shows like “Peaky Blinders” and “Taboo.” Then there’s the lady stepping into Miss Havisham’s big shoes: Oscar winner Olivia Colman. If anyone can justify telling this tale again, it’s her.
Airdate: TBD – BT

44. “Bad Monkey” (Apple TV+)
Vince Vaughn
stars in one of 2022’s most high-profile streaming series, joining forces with comedic talents Bill Lawrence (“Ted Lasso”) and Carl Hiaasen (“Strip Tease”). Lawrence adapts the book by Hiaasen about a detective who has fallen so far that he’s now a restaurant inspector in Southern Florida. When a tourist finds a severed arm, Vaughn’s character gets sucked into an international mystery. One of Hiaasen’s most acclaimed books, it seems like a perfect fit for Lawrence, Vaughn, and the miniseries format.
Airdate: TBD  – BT

43. “The Afterparty” Season 2 (Apple TV+)
A surprise hit in 2022, Apple TV+’s murder-mystery comedy “The Afterparty” Season 1 is a real showcase of comedic talent. With an amazing ensemble, the Chris Miller-led show (of Phil Lord & Chris Miller fame) featured a fairly generic premise (taking place at a high school reunion afterparty) but transformed itself with each episode, focusing on a new character’s point-of-view and adopting a new genre each time. Season two is expected to do much of the same but with a (mostly) new cast and, presumably, a new mystery to solve. Think “Knives Out,” but somehow more wacky and hilarious. Season 2 sees the return of Sam Richardson and Zoë Chao alongside newcomers Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods, Paul Walter Hauser, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, Jack Whitehall, and Vivian Wu.
Airdate: TBD, but probably late 2023.  – CB

42. “Ironheart” (Disney+)
Already introduced in ‘Wakanda Forever,’ MIT student Riri Williams, aka Iron Heart (Dominique Thorne), returns for her own Marvel series.  Created by Chinaka Hodge (a writer on “The Midnight Club” and “Snowpiercer”), not a lot is known about it, but Anthony Ramos is playing the character The Hood, and it’s supposedly a show about magic vs. technology. Six episodes in length, Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Manny Montana, Paul Calderón, and more co-star.
Airdate: TBD – RP

41. “The New Look” (Apple TV+)
Written, executive produced, and directed by Todd A. Kessler (the creator of ”Bloodline,”), the showrunner returns with a new series that depicts the meteoric rise of fashion designer Christian Dior as he dethrones the grande dame Coco Chanel. It’s also a World War II-era thriller as the events cross that timeline. Ben Mendelsohn stars as Dior, Juliette Binoche plays Coco Chanel, and Claes Bang, Emily Mortimer, John Malkovich, and Maisie Williams co-star. Julia Ducornau (“Titane”) directs some episodes.
Airdate: TBD – RP
