With “The Boys” coming to an end, Prime Video loses one of its most popular shows of this decade (although “The Boys” universe is far from over, with “Gen V” Season 2, “Vought Rising,” and “The Boys: Mexico” on the way). Will the fifth and final season, debuting next month on the streamer, go out with a bang? Knowing this show, it’s an emphatic yes, and an especially violent one at that.

“The Boys” S5 sees Homelander, and his massive ego, in rule, but that’ll change quickly, as Butcher is back, and has a virus he wants to use to eliminate all the Supes for good.
Here’s an official synopsis for “The Boys” Season 5, courtesy of Prime Video:
In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen.
Returning cast members for “The Boys” for S5 include Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and Jensen Ackles. Daveed Diggs also returns. Newcomers this season include Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and a Seth Rogen cameo.
Eric Kripke serves as the showrunner and executive producer on “The Boys.” Other executive producers include original comic creators Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, as well as Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Judalina Neira, Jessica Chou, Gabriel Garcia, Ori Marmur, Kevin F. Levin, and Jason Netter. “The Boys” is a Sony Pictures Television production, in association with Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
