A release date for “The Chronology of Water” is still pretty far off. The film wrapped production in July, which means we likely won’t see it until 2025. You have to assume that it’ll also play some festivals. All that to say, enjoy the first look photo and keep an eye out for when the film finally gets released.

Here’s the synopsis:

The adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s autobiographical bestseller, The Chronology of Water is a film about turning trauma into art. The story follows Lidia from her earliest childhood memories in the Pacific Northwest, through explosive misfires and mistakes, children that almost-were, toxic relationships, art heroes, wins and losses. The film drifts in the water of Lidia’s memories on her journey to become a professional writer, repossessing her own story by writing one she can live with. The Chronology of Water is an in-depth exploration of sexuality, of creativity, an unflinching stare at all the gory details of having a female body and a sensitive depiction of the emotional vocabulary of youth.
