One of the most popular thrillers last year is coming back. “The Diplomat” season two seems to be continuing right where we last left off with showrunner Debora Cahn making clear, in regards to how season one ended, with the reveal that the US and UK are not enemies but rather allies in a way. And while this is only one thing out of dozens of others, it makes it clear the purpose of season two. Season two will deal with lies and truth, specifically with our thoughts on the Wylers, and also with moving forward from the cliffhanger ending.

The series still stars Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh. An addition to the cast will also occur with Vice President Grace Penn, who will be played by Alison Janney. A highlight here to the cast is Russell, who already played a famous role in a political series titled “The Americans” and seems to be continuing that legacy in a new role.
The music is by Nathan Barr and Dimitri Smith. It is executive produced by Cahn, Janice Williams, Keri Russell, and Simon Cellan Jones. It’s produced by Daniel Toland, Russ Hammonds, Amanda Johnson-Zetterström, and Nishchal Shome. The cinematography is by Julian Court and Philipp Blaubach. The editors are Gary Levy and Agnes Grandits. Production company wise, it is Let’s Not Turn This Into a Whole Big Production and Well Red. It is released by Netflix.
