We all know the Russo Brothers are coming back to Marvel Studios to direct “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” But well before that happens, they have another film coming to Netflix, titled “The Electric State,” which we now have a first look.

This first look for “The Electric State” comes courtesy of Vanity Fair and gives us a peek at what’s to come with the Russo Brothers’ new film. The feature is set in an alternate ‘90s where robots have rebelled against humanity and there’s a war against A.I. But this isn’t some ‘Terminator’ ripoff. Not at all. You see, these robots are the friendly, cute helper robots who gain sentience.
As seen in the pictures, many of the robots in the film, including Mr. Peanut (yes, THE Mr. Peanut), are somewhat silly looking, as it appears they are descendants of the animatronics from Walt Disney World. The film tells the story of a young girl, played by Millie Bobby Brown, who is on a mission to find her brother. She joins forces with Keats (Chris Pratt), a veteran of the robot-human war. According to the first-look, the film has a bit of a road trip vibe.
It’s largely believed that once “The Electric State” is released, the Russos will be full steam ahead on the two ‘Avengers’ films. And according to the filmmakers, “The Electric State” is a great “bridge” for the brothers.
“This was unintentional as of several months ago, but this movie is actually a remarkable sort of bridge for us back to that,” Anthony Russo said. “It’s an interesting prelude to returning to Marvel and trying to continue that story forward.”
“The Electric State” is expected to arrive on Netflix in March 2025. You can see the first-look photos below:
