“Aunt Hilda is dying of cancer and I don’t really care.” That’s the opening quote from the trailer for “The Estate,” a dark comedy slated for Nov. 4 about two down-on-their-luck sisters (Toni Collette and Anna Faris) who try scheming their way into the will of their terminal aunt, the ultra-loaded — and not-exactly-beloved — Hilda, played by Kathleen Turner.
And they aren’t the only ones. Not long after their arrival at Hilda’s mansion, the sisters are forced to contend with a bevy of other family members who come out of the woodwork to vie for the dying woman’s fortune, played by a starry cast that includes David Duchovny, Rosemarie Dewitt and Ron Livingston. Choice cringe-quote from Duchovny: “If I wasn’t your nephew I’d be only too happy to be inside you.”
