‘The Fall Guy’ Trailer: Ryan Gosling & Emily Blunt’s Stuntman Action-Comedy Hits May 3

Last year, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt were part of the theatrical juggernaut event known as Barbenheimer (the organic viral marketing push for “Barbie” and Best Picture winner “Oppenheimer” last summer). Their films opened on the same day, but instead of canceling each other out because there was a push to see the two films, they both turned both into massive box officer earners. Now the two are actually uniting in their next pic, “The Fall Guy,” from director David Leitch (“Atomic Blonde,” “Deadpool 2“), is released on May 3, and Universal Pictures has dropped another trailer following its SXSW world review (you can read our review here).

Based on the television series that debuted in 1981 and ran for five seasons, Gosling plays a stunt performer thrust into a deadly situation when the film’s primary actor (played by rumored James Bond hopeful Aaron Taylor-Johnson) turns up dead. Others appearing in the film include Winston Duke (“Black Panther“), Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso“), and Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All At Once“).

Here is how Universal describes “The Fall Guy”:

He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows, and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy, and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?

Given the positive SXSW buzz, there is already some promising early buzz for the pic that could become a franchise starter. Leitch had signed a development deal with Universal that included the filmmaker producing “With Love, another action film that Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan (“Everything Everything All At Once”) will lead is coming out on February 7, 2025

As mentioned above, “The Fall Guy” will swing onto the big screen on May 3, exclusively in theaters. Watch the new trailer below.
