Writer/director Lucile Hadžihalilović returns with her latest effort, “The Ice Tower,” which is coming to screens on October 3. We can now share a trailer for the visually stunning drama that had been making the festival rounds earlier in the year.
Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard leads the cast that also features newcomer Clara Pacini (“Club Cauchemar”), August Diehl (“A Hidden Life,” “Inglorious Basterds”), and infamous shock filmmaker Gaspar Noé.
An official logline for “The Ice Tower” provided by Yellow Veil Pictures:
Jeanne, a 15-year-old orphan, witnesses the shoot for a film adaptation of the fairy tale The Snow Queen, and she becomes fascinated by its star, Cristina, an actress who is just as mysterious and alluring as the Queen she is playing.
“The Ice Tower” was co-written with Geoff Cox, which reunites Hadžihalilović with Cotillard, and previously premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution.
Hadžihalilović’s connection with Noé goes back to writing the script for his Japan-set out-of-body pic “Enter The Void,” and she had previously worked with Cotillard on the 2004 film “Innocence.”
Some of Cotillard’s past credits include “La Vie en rose” (a performance that earned her a Best Actress Oscar statue for playing legendary French singer Édith Piaf), “Two Days, One Night,” “Flesh & Bone,” “Contagion,” “The Immigrant,” “Macbeth,” “Annette,” and “Lee.”
