Filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi is no stranger to documenting huge moments in American political history. She’s also no stranger to politics, considering she is the daughter of former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. So, it really was only a matter of time before the filmmaker made a doc about the January 6, 2021 insurrection. And that’s exactly what she did with “The Insurrectionist Next Door.”
As seen in the trailer for “The Insurrectionist Next Door,” Alexandra Pelosi investigates some of the people who took part in the Jan. 6 insurrection that saw American citizens storming the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. after taking part in an event hosted by former President Donald Trump. The doc takes a look at these people, attempting to find out their motivations, as some deal with the very real consequences of their actions.
The documentary is directed by Alexandra Pelosi. This marks her 15th doc for HBO. She previously worked on films such as “Pelosi in the House,” “American Selfie: One Nation Shoots Itself,” and “Outside the Bubble: A Roadtrip with Alexandra Pelosi.”
“The Insurrectionist Next Door” debuts on HBO and Max on October 15. You can watch the trailer below.
