‘The Killer’ Trailer: David Fincher’s Hitman Flick With Michael Fassbender Hits Select Theaters Today, Netflix On November 10

Netflix has a bunch of anticipated films left on their 2023 release calendar, but maybe none more so than David Fincher‘s “The Killer.” And the director’s follow-up to 2020’s “Mank” sees him in familiar territory: adapting a hardboiled thriller in a way only he can.

Fincher reunites with “Se7en” scribe Andrew Kevin Walker for his latest feature, about an assassin who gets caught in an international manhunt after a hit goes wrong.  Michael Fassbender stars.

Here’s an official synopsis for “The Killer,” courtesy of Netflix:

After a fateful near-miss an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.

Along with Fassbender, “The Killer” also stars Charles ParnellArliss HowardSophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton.  Kerry O’MalleySala BakerEmiliano Pernía, and Gabriel Polanco also star.  Jack Kesy and Monique Granderton round out the main cast.

Walker adapts Alexis Nolent‘s (aka: Matz) French-language graphic novel of the same name for “The Killer.”  Ceán Chaffin produces the film, with Fincher regulars Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross providing music. Other Fincher regulars on “The Killer” include Erik Meeserschmidt as director of photography, and Kirk Baxter as editor.

“The Killer” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September, receiving high marks from critics (read The Playlist’s review of the film here). But now it’s time for moviegoers to have their say about it. “The Killer” hits select theaters today before it streams exclusively on Netflix on November 10. Watch a new trailer for the film below.
