Daniel Kaluuya has consistently proven that he is one of the best actors working today. Now, it appears he wants to try to add to his Hollywood repertoire by going behind the camera for the new film, “The Kitchen.”

As seen in the trailer, “The Kitchen” is a dystopian sci-fi film about a relatively near future London where the gap between the haves and the have-nots has only grown. The impoverished all have been secluded toa section of the city called The Kitchen, where we follow to people trying their best to escape their situations. The film marks the directorial debut for Daniel Kaluuya.

The film stars Kane Robinson, Jedaiah Bannerman, Hope Ikpoku Jr, Ian Wright, BackRoad Gee, Cristale, Teija Kabs, and Demmy Ladipo. As mentioned, Daniel Kaluuya co-directs the film alongside Kibwe Tavares. Kaluuya also co-wrote the film with Joe Murtagh, in addition to serving as a producer. This is clearly a passion project for Kaluuya, as he is involved in nearly every aspect of the production.

Here’s the synopsis:
In a dystopian London, the gap between rich and poor has been stretched to its limits. All forms of social housing have been eradicated and only The Kitchen remains. A community that refuses to move out of the place they call home. This is where we meet a solitary Izi, living here by necessity and desperately trying to find a way out, and a 12-year-old Benji, who has lost his mother and is searching for a family. We follow our unlikely pair as they struggle to forge a relationship in a system that is stacked against them.
