So, it’s safe to say expectations are high for “The Nun II,” the sequel to the franchise’s highest-grossing entry, 2018’s “The Nun.” The ninth installment in “The Conjuring” Universe takes place four years after the events of the first film, with Taissa Farmiga‘s Sister Irene returning to face off against an ancient evil force she’s all too familiar with.
Here’s a brief synopsis for “The Nun II,” courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures:
1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun.
Alongside Farmiga, “The Nun II” also stars Jonas Bloquet, Storm Reid, Anna Popplewell, and Bonnie Aarons.
Michael Chaves directs “The Nun II” from a screenplay by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and Akela Cooper. It’s Chaves’ third time directing in “The Conjuring” Universe after 2019’s “The Curse Of La Llorona” and 2021’s “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.”
Safran produces “The Nun II” through The Safran Company along with Wan through his Atomic Monster banner. The pair have co-produced the entire “Conjuring” Universe together so far, so why stop now? Executive producers on “The Nun II” include Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Victoria Palmeri, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Michael Polaire.
