'The Room Next Door' Teaser: Tilda Swinton & Julianne Moore Star In Pedro Almodóvar's English-Language Debut

There are few filmmakers working today on the same level as Pedro Almodóvar. He’s easily one of the best filmmakers in the world. This is why “The Room Next Door” is automatically one of the most anticipated films of the year.

As seen in the teaser, “The Room Next Door” tells the story of two women who were close friends earlier in their lives but have grown more distant with age. Now, as middle-aged women, they are brought together once again. It makes complete sense that Almodóvar would center this film around women, as that is something he often does with his films.

The film stars Tilda Swinton, Julianne Moore, John Turturro, Alessandro Nivola, Juan Diego Botto, Raúl Arévalo, Victoria Luengo, Alex Hogh Andersen, Esther McGregor, Alvise Rigo, and Melina Matthews. “The Room Next Door” is written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar. The film marks the award-winning filmmaker’s first English-language feature.

“The Room Next Door” debuts in theaters on December 20 via Sony Pictures Classic. You can watch the teaser below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.
