So what happens when you're Ben Stiller and your last movie was the execrable "The Watch"? You have to make amends (and then some it seems). While he's in post on the fantastical "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" which he is both directing and starring in, it looks like the writer/director/actor isn't doing the "indie-movie-for-me" thing after. Nope, he's headed right into another tentpole, as if to ensure that his brand gets built back up.
"Night At The Museum 3" is a thing now, because that's what happens when the first two movies make about a billion worldwide at the box office. It was inevitable. Shawn Levy will return to direct Stiller, because dude likes a steady paycheck, and while there are no plot details yet, our extensive sources have told us that the movie will take place at night, possibly in a museum. No spoilers. Stiller's friends and colleagues will probably stop by for cameos and parents can rest assured they have something to take their kids to a couple years from now.
Fox has set the movie for a December 25, 2014 release date (Merry Christmas!) and we're sure we'll be hearing about how everyone wanted to make sure to "honor the series" and "do it right" or whatever. But sometimes careers need the cushy comfort of a familiar franchise. Anyway, Levy will he hoping to rebound from "Real Steel" with this summer's "The Internship" starring Stiller palz, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. [ComingSoon]
