‘The Three Musketeers’ Trailer: Eva Green & Vincent Cassel Headline Martin Bourboulon’s Two-Part Film Adaptation

There have been dozens of film and TV adaptations of Alexandre Dumas’ “The Three Musketeers” over the years. Hell, for more than 100 years, filmmakers have been trying to come up with the very best adaptation of the classic swashbuckling tale. Well, Martin Bourboulon is the latest director to take a shot.

As seen in the first trailer for Martin Bourboulon’s two-part adaptation of “The Three Musketeers,” the filmmaker has put together an incredible cast and a massive budget to bring Dumas’ tale to life. As you probably know, the story follows an elite group of warriors, the Musketeers, as they attempt to survive during a war-torn era in French history. Unlike recent versions, such as Paul W.S. Anderson’s 2011 ‘Musketeers’ adaptation, Bourboulon is taking the story and splitting it over two features to fully flesh out the epic tale.

The ensemble cast for “The Three Musketeers” includes François Civil, Vincent Cassel, Romain Duris, Pio Marmaï, and Eva Green. This project is, by far, the biggest undertaking in Bourboulon’s career up until now. Previously, he worked on films such as “Daddy or Mommy,” “Divorce French Style,” and “Eiffel.”

The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan” debuts in French theaters on April 5, 2023. The second part, titled “The Three Musketeers: Milady” is set to arrive in theaters at Christmas 2023. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

From the Louvre to Buckingham Palace, to the gutters of Paris to the siege of La Rochelle… In a kingdom divided by religious wars and under threat of British invasion, a handful of men and women will cross swords and tie their fate to that of France.
