‘The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent’: Here’s Your First Look At Nic Cage As Nic Cage With Pedro Pascal

Ever since it was announced, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the new film, “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” The premise, which feels like it could be the culmination of everything Nicolas Cage has been working towards in this later part of his career, is perfectly meta and strange and seems almost too good to be true. But not only is ‘Unbearable Weight’ actually happening, but we have our first look at the film.

“The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” stars Nicolas Cage as a fictionalized version of himself, who is hired to appear at the birthday party for a superfan and crime boss, Javi (Pedro Pascal). But he’s actually also there because he was asked by the government to find information about the criminal empire. And to make matters even more bonkers, Cage not only plays this modern-day version of himself but he is also set to play a younger version of himself, who he talks to in the film.

“It’s an invented version of Nic Cage,” explained Cage (via EW). “The character is feeling unfulfilled and contending with the rejection that can happen so often in the small town that is Hollywood. It’s not me. I’m feeling pretty good about things.”

“Javi has a wax statue of Nic and you think, ‘Oh, it might be awkward between a film star and a fan,'” the actor added. “But they’re both cinephiles, so they’re having wonderful conversations about ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’ and ‘Paddington 2.’”

Joining Cage and Pascal in the film are Neil Patrick Harris, Tiffany Haddish, and Lily Sheen.

This film is either going to be one of the most fun films of 2022 or a massive disappointment. Either way, ‘Unbearable Weight’ is a must-see when it hits theaters on April 22. You can see the first-look photos below:
