'The Witcher: Blood Origin' Teaser: Netflix's First Live-Action 'Witcher' Spinoff Stars Michelle Yeoh

HBO has literally taken years to get its first “Game of Thrones” spinoff series up and running, with “House of the Dragon” expected to debut in 2022. However, Netflix isn’t taking its time to begin the spinoffs of its own fantasy hit series, “The Witcher.” With Season 2 of the “Witcher” finally available on the streamer, Netflix has already unveiled the first teaser for its live-action prequel series, “Blood Origin.”

As seen in the teaser for “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” the series follows the story behind the creation of the first Witcher, set 1,200 years before the events of the main series. While the teaser doesn’t give much away in terms of plot, the footage clearly shows ‘Blood Origin’ will have plenty of the fantasy action that fans of the original series have grown to love.

The series stars Michelle Yeoh alongside folks such as Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, and Lenny Henry. Originally, the series was set to star Jodie Turner-Smith, but the actress left the series before filming could begin and she was seemingly replaced by Brown.

No official release date has been set for “The Witcher: Blood Origin.” The series is expected to be released sometime in 2022. You can watch the teaser below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
