‘The Woman In The Yard’ Trailer: Director Jaume Collet-Serra Returns To Horror In March

After helping bring to life two giant blockbusters starring Dwayne Johnson and a hit Netflix thriller starring Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, director Jaume Collet-Serra returns to what made him a known figure in genre filmmaking with a brand-new horror movie, his first since 2016’s “The Shallows.”

Titled “The Woman in the Yard,” the movie is written by Sam Stefanak and reunites Collet-Serra with Danielle Deadwyler, who also starred in his last film, “Carry-On.” Okuwi Okpokwasili, Russell Hornsby, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha round out the cast.

Not much is known about what the movie will focus on, but it will be produced by Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain. It will also mark Collet-Serra’s first collaboration with cinematographer Pawel Pogorlzeski, who has worked with Ari Aster on “Hereditary,” “Midsommar,” and “Beau is Afraid.”

Collet-Serra is best known for directing 2009’s “Orphan,” which gained a cult following in the years after its release. This led to a prequel titled “Orphan: First Kill” in 2022, which was not directed by Collet-Serra but paved the way for a franchise. He has also directed numerous action movies starring Liam Neeson, which are highly regarded as some of the best of Neeson’s late-stage career. Collet-Serra is now working on a reboot of Renny Harlin’s “Cliffhanger,” with Lily James, Pierce Brosnan, and Franz Rogowski.
