'The Third Day' Teaser: HBO's Series Starring Jude Law Is Delayed Until Fall But Looks Great

The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic is not only delaying the release of films all around the world, as theaters remain closed, it’s also delaying the release of TV series. We’ve seen networks have to juggle release dates before, with FX removing “Fargo” from the calendar due to production stoppages delaying the final bits of filming. And now, HBO is feeling the effects, as the network pushes highly-anticipated limited series “The Third Day” from its May release to this fall. But it’s not all bad news, as the network revealed that news alongside a new teaser for the thriller series.

The teaser for “The Third Day” does exactly what you think it should. It teases. And it does so by showing bits of the series setting up the premise of a man (Jude Law) that visits a remote area and finds himself unable to leave. The music and the story immediately bring to mind last year’s “Midsommar” and, of course, “The Wicker Man” (the good one, not the bees one). But that’s not necessarily a bad thing at all. If “The Third Day” has half the creepiness of those films, viewers are likely in for a treat.

Joining Law in the cast are Katherine Waterston, Naomie Harris, Emily Watson, and Paddy Considine. That’s a hell of a cast, as each one of those actors has proven themselves to be some of the best working today. The series is written by Dennis Kelly, a renowned theatre playwright. He’s also the screenwriter of the 2014 film, “Black Sea,” which starred Jude Law. Sharing the directing duties on “The Third Day” are Marc Munden and Philippa Lowthorpe.

An exact release date for the six-part series hasn’t been revealed yet. However, HBO does say that the series has been pushed to sometime in the fall from its May 11 date. So, it appears we still have several months of waiting before we can find out what exactly Jude Law is facing off with. You can watch the teaser below.
