Who’s joining Margaret Qualley on her next project with Zachary Wigon, “Victorian Psycho“? Deadline reports that Thomas McKenzie is the first name added on the upcoming psychological horror thriller’s cast sheet next to Qualley’s. It’s a good pickup for Wigon, too, as McKenzie’s work in “Eileen,” “The Power Of The Dog,” and elsewhere suggests she’ll fit well with the film’s general tone.

Based on Virginia Feito‘s upcoming novel of the same name, “Victorian Psycho” stars Qualley as Winifred Notty, an eccentric young governess who arrives at a remote Gothic manor, Ensor House, as a caretaker for the estate’s children. But Notty’s also a psychopath, and as other staff members of Ensor House begin to disappear, it’s only a matter of time before the estate’s owners discover her violent secret.
According to Deadline, McKenzie will play a nursemaid at Ensor House who befriends Notty shortly after her arrival. So maybe she’s one of Winifred’s victims, or a friend who recognizes Notty hides something beneath her eccentricity. Whatever the case, Qualley and McKenzie make a great lead pairing for Wigon’s film, which should see more actors join its ensemble soon, as “Victorian Psycho” is on schedule to start shooting next February.
Here’s some back-end info on “Victorian Psycho”: Feito adapts her novel for the film’s screenplay (the novel hits bookstores on February 4, 2025). Neon‘s Dan Kagan produces the project through his Traffic banner. Sebastien Raybaud also produces via Anton, which handles international rights and co-reps it domestically. Wigon also produces through Anonymous Content. Executive producers include Nick Schumaker and Bard Dorros. UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance co-rep the film’s US rights.
After a busy 2021, which saw her star in four films, McKenzie’s recent work includes last year’s “Eileen” and the British drama “Joy,” which hits Netflix later this month. Other major roles for McKenzie include Edgar Wright‘s “Last Night In SoHo” and Taika Waititi‘s “Jojo Rabbit.” Up next for the actress? Jimmy Carr‘s comedy “Fackham Hall” and the animated film “I, Object.”
As for Wigon, the director broke out last year with the BDSM dramedy “Sanctuary,” with Qualley co-starring. Is “Victorian Psycho” the start of a long-term collab between actress and director?
