Ti West, the horror filmmaker perhaps best known for his ’80s throwback horror film, “House Of The Devil” (which is alright, but really overrated in some circles) has been set up to direct a haunted hotel picture called, “The Innkeepers.” Naturally it’s being produced by indie horror doyen and multi-hyphenate Larry Fessenden, once dubbed as the heir apparent or indie savior of (known for films like “Wendigo,” “Habit”), but he’s never really lived up to his initial promise (but he is a great indie producer and shepherd’s new young talent, so you gotta love him for that). The film will apparently start shooting in the spring.
The film is about the last two employees the last of a haunted hotel that’s going out of business. We like West though, he has promise, so fingers crossed that this is as special as the decent, but nothing to write home about, horror, “House Of The Devil.” Speaking of Fessenden himself the director, writer, actor, producer was set to remake the fantastic Spanish ghost thriller “The Orphanage,” by Guillermo Del Toro protégé, Juan Antonio Bayona but unfortunately, that’s not happening anymore. We’re dying to see that kid’s next gig. [Variety]
