Got a Tip?

TIFF 2017 Adds ‘The Disaster Artist,’ ‘Brawl In Cell Block 99,’ ‘Super Size Me 2,’ More

After announcing their first wave of titles last week, organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival are back this week and have unveiled their Midnight Madness and TIFF Docs lineup. Let’s take a quick overview.

The biggest surprise in the documentary section is Morgan Spurlock‘s “Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken!,” a sequel to his breakout hit, which presumably confirms that fast food is still awful for you if you only eat it for a month. Crossing over from Venice is “JIM & ANDY: the Great Beyond – the story of Jim Carrey & Andy Kaufman featuring a very special, contractually obligated mention of Tony Clifton,” which, based on its title alone, is pretty intriguing.

Meanwhile, the Midnight Madness lineup features at least two heavy hitters, even if they’ve premiered elsewhere. A24 will be bringing James Franco‘s “The Disaster Artist,” while S. Craig Zahler will be unveiling “Brawl In Cell Block 99,” which we really can’t wait to see.

TIFF runs from September 7-17.
