This is now Tiffany Haddish’s world. We just live in it. The breakout “Girl’s Night” star was announced as the host of the 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards and it makes so much sense it wasn’t even a surprise.
In a video announcement Haddish hyped, “It’s gonna be off the chain. You know why? Because I’m hosting and you know what that means: it’s gonna be hilarious.”

Haddish follows last year’s emcee Adam Devine and becomes the first African-American woman to ever host the “irreverent” awards show. This is just another high profile gig for the Los Angeles native following “Girl’s Trip’s” massive success last summer. Haddish hosted “Saturday Night Live” in November, published a best selling book (“The Last Black Unicorn”), won the Best Supporting Actress honor from the New York Film Critics Circle, made waves announcing the nominations or the 90th Academy Awards and turned an on set anecdote into a high profile Super Bowl commercial for Groupon. She’ll be seen next as a presenter at the Oscars, but also stars in the upcoming TBS TV series “The Last O.G.,” the Kyrie Irving basketball comedy “Uncle Drew” and the Kevin Hart flick “Night School” later this year. The 38-year-old actress also signed a first look deal with HBO, is set to star in “Limited Partners” for Paramount Pictures and will voice a character in the new Netflix animated series “Tuca & Bertie.”
The second year it’s also incorporated television categories into its nomination slate, the 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards will be broadcast on Monday, June 18.
