The films of Bong Joon-Ho have never lacked for imagination and style. However, for his upcoming “Okja,” he might be taking his all-star cast along for the ride in what may be his most out there movie yet.
We already know that the film stars Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Devon Bostick, Lily Collins, Byun Heebong, Shirley Henderson, Daniel Henshall, Yoon Je Moon, Choi Wooshik, and Steven Yeun and follows a little girl named Mija, who risks everything to prevent a multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend. However, THR has revealed a little twist, being that the best friend is a massive, genetically manufactured pig named Okja.
What’s more, is that Swinton will play the head of the company that’s coming for Okja, while also playing that character’s twin sister. Yep, dual roles. Meanwhile, Giancarlo Esposito has joined the cast playing Swinton’s right-hand man, while Gyllenhaal character is a zoologist and Dano’s character is an animal activist.
“Okja” will be in English and Korean and is filming in South Korea, Canada, and the U.S. It’s set to be released in 2017 on Netflix and in a limited theatrical run. And this is already high on our most anticipated list for next year.
