We reported last week that members of Broken Social Scene were spotted in “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” but that the movie had no release date in spite of being filmed back in 2007. However, /film report that Warner Brothers have announced an August 14, 2009 release for the much tested and re-shot film. It’s not quite the fall release we suggested, but we’d like to think WB saw our post and decided to get on it as friends of The Playlist saw a test screening and gave it rave reviews.
It’s an interesting release date because, as /film points out, it puts the flick up against a couple of horror/thrillers like “Final Destination: Death Trip 3D” and “District 9.” It is the lone hybrid love story-science fiction movie that women are likely to opt in for on that weekend. August has typically been a dead zone to drop off movies that are total bombs, but over the last few years the Apataw family have taken to releasing their prize comedy fighters like “Knocked Up” “Superbad” and “Pineapple Express” in August and revitalizing the month for movie goers.
