'Together' Trailer: James McAvoy & Sharon Horgan Team With Stephen Daldry For A Lockdown Dramedy

The pandemic has produced a number of films over the past year-and-a-half. Most of them include small casts, limited locations, and reduced budgets. And many of them actually try to tackle the idea of the COVID pandemic through another lens, whether that’s horror (“In the Earth”), a heist (“Locked Down”), or even a futuristic pandemic outbreak (“Songbird”). But Stephen Daldry tackles the idea of a pandemic film in the most obvious (and hopefully hilarious) way in “Together.”

As seen in the trailer for “Together,” the film follows the story of a British couple that is being forced to quarantine indoors during COVID. Unfortunately, their relationship has seen better days and the lockdown only exacerbates an already-rocky situation. But instead of doing a straight, hard-hitting family drama, Daldry’s film tries to showcase the ups and downs of the relationship in a lighthearted way, as the couple exchanges jabs about hating each other’s face and food choices.

The film stars James McAvoy and Sharon Horgan. “Together” is directed by Stephen Daldry, based on a script by Dennis Kelly. Daldry is a three-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker for his previous films, “Billy Elliot,” “The Hours,” and “The Reader.”

Here’s the synopsis:

Academy Award nominee Stephen Daldry’s new comedy, TOGETHER, starring James McAvoy and Sharon Horgan, is the story of a family, like so many, who found a way to survive – together. This hilarious and heartbreaking story intimately shows two partners forced to re-evaluate themselves and their relationship through the reality of lockdown.
