Tom Hardy Is Ready To Do Very Foolish Things In New Teaser For FX Series 'Taboo'

A savage man coming back to civilization — that seems to be the basic thrust of FX‘s upcoming series “Taboo,” and who better to lead that kind of story than Tom Hardy? The actor is making his latest foray onto television with the series, and we’re always on board for anything Hardy.

Written by Steven Knight, who crafted the terrific “Locke,” the show is set in 1814 and finds Hardy returning from Africa with some smuggled diamonds, and looking to build a business to rival the East India Company. Here’s the synopsis:

Set in 1814, Taboo follows James Keziah Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father’s legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner, James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. Encircled by conspiracy, murder, and betrayal, a dark family mystery unfolds in a combustible tale of love and treachery.

No exact debut date has been revealed just yet, but “Taboo” is slated to arrive in early 2017.
