Tom Hiddleston is sticking with TV for a little while, apparently. According to THR, Hiddleston has agreed to star in the upcoming series “White Stork” for Netflix. Created by Christopher Dunlop and directed by Kristoffer Nyholm, “White Stork” is being labeled as a political thriller that follows a man that is being groomed to run for a seat in parliament. But over the course of his vetting, a woman discovers some potentially damaging secrets from his past.
Hiddleston has previously found success on TV, well before his upcoming Disney+ series and this Netflix show. As the star of “The Night Manager,” the actor helped launch what would become an Emmy Award-winning drama series. In addition to his TV success, he’s also a superstar thanks to the aforementioned role in the Marvel Studios-created superhero universe, where Hiddleston plays Thor’s half-brother, Loki.

“White Stork” is yet another major series led by a huge star coming to Netflix. As is fairly commonplace nowadays, the streaming platform just continues to spend huge sums of money on limited series with A-listers as a way to attract new subscribers to its service. And with increased competition from the likes of Hulu, Disney+, Apple TV+, HBO Max, and Peacock, Netflix can’t possibly stop spending now.
There’s no release date set for “White Stork,” but it’s likely not something that will premiere until 2021 at the earliest.
