Got a Tip?

Trailer: Leonardo DiCaprio And Kate Winslet Feel The Ennui Of Marriage And The Suburbs In ‘Revolutionary Road’

How do you break free without breaking apart?

We’ve been distracted by scripts, but we’re about a quarter through Richard Yates famous novel about marital disquietude, “Revolutionary Road,” that’s being adapted for the screen by director Sam Mendes and his stars Leonard DiCaprio and (his wife) Kate Winslet. One can assume we should hopefully finish before the film is released on December 26, cause damn this thing look really damn good. Roger Deakins cinematography here looks amazing (the things he does with whites and grays!) and the dramatic beats showcased in the trailer look like some trenchant and penetrating stuff full of genuine gravitas. We’ve been looking forward to this one for a while, but now color us officially psyched. The trailer is soundtracked to Nina Simone’s haunting classic, “Wild is the Wind,” which only underscores the resigned feelings of emotional incarceration and isolation. DiCaprio looks particularly good and lord knows he can be incredibly overrated and unsuited to certain roles (no more historical figures for him please). Man, we can’t wait.
